5th
Grade – NATURE AND SCIENCE CLUB – XXXX 200X

EXAMPLE ONLY

WHAT:     Nature and Science Club is a PTO-sponsored after-school activity for Irving School students interested in nature, science, and technology.  The club is very informal.  We emphasize hanging out with friends while engaging with hands-on activities like launching rockets, playing with magic, meeting live animals, building electronic devices, and trading at the Irving School Nature Swap.  Weekly themes this spring include:

  • Water:  Including indoor water play, spring pond life, and panning for gold.
  • Bugs:  Bugs in the dirt, visit to the Prairie Garden, and microscopic bugs.
  • Reptiles and Amphibians: Meet real live snakes, turtles, frogs, and lizards.

WHEN:     5th grade Nature and Science Club will continue to meet on Wednesdays this spring.  The spring session will meet on the following dates:  XXXXXXXX.

TIME:        Meetings begin right after school and continue to run a bit longer than they did last fall:  2 to 3:15 p.m.

WHERE:   Irving School’s Community Room, room 102 (across from the Mini-Gym).

COST:      There is a $15 fee for the spring session (cash or check payable to the Irving PTO).  Financial assistance is available for students eligible for the free or reduced fee lunch program

LEADER:     Eric Gyllenhaal is a parent of Irving students (Ethan and Aaron).  He has degrees in natural resources, geology and paleontology.  He has worked at the Children’s Museum in Indianapolis and the Field Museum in Chicago.  He is currently a part-time stay-at-home Dad and works part-time as a museum consultant.

PARENT HELPERS:  Adult volunteers can help with meeting set up, supervision, and clean up.  Families can also volunteer to send snacks to meetings.

QUESTIONS:  If you have any questions, please call Eric Gyllenhaal at 848-3083
